MHPE and Social Health Programs in the news

DVA publishes articles featuring veteran health and wellbeing  in the Vetaffairs newspaper, on social media platforms and on DVA e-news. Volunteers are encouraged to contribute good news stories about the work being done in the veteran community by the MHPE volunteers.

If you have an idea for an article or a good news story, please contact your local Community Support Advisor who can help with drafting and publishing. Articles can be submitted to MensHealth [at] dva.gov.au (MensHealth[at]dva[dot]gov[dot]au).

Digital Mentor Training – BeConnected – Every Australian Online

Digital literacy is an essential skill to find health and wellbeing information. Be Connected is an Australian government initiative committed to building the confidence, digital skills and online safety of Australians. Whether you want to pick up new skills or dive into a new topic, you can access free learning resources online or join one of the thousands of community organisations running free computer classes across Australia.

The Digital Mentor course will help you to support people through their first steps to using computers and the internet, and improve their digital skills. You'll learn about the language and techniques needed to support someone, and the possible barriers that people who are new to the internet can experience.
This course will also help you to develop the skills and confidence you need to support people on a one-to-one basis, as well as helping small groups.

Healthy Male – Generations of Healthy Australian Men

Healthy Male is a national organisation that provides easy access to the latest scientific and medical research on male health.

Their aim is to make this information available to everybody, regardless of gender, age, education, sexual orientation, religion or ethnicity. To do this, they collaborate with Australia’s leading researchers, specialists, clinicians and educators to develop information that fills the gaps in men’s health. Healthy Male is funded by the Australian Government Department of Health.

Healthy Male provides both the Spanner in the Works? program and a monthly e-newsletter which features articles on men's health and information on available resources – subscribe here.
