Narrator: Living with hearing loss, or, the ringing sounds known as tinnitus, can affect your quality of life.

It can affect how you relax, rest and sleep, and your ability to communicate with loved ones, family or friends, which can leave you feeling frustrated or even isolated.

There are however many devices and treatments available to help you live a full and active life.

Hearing loss, tinnitus and veterans

Hearing loss and tinnitus are two of the most common conditions experienced by former Australian Defence Force members, due to their exposure to loud noise during military training and service.

That’s why the Department of Veterans’ Affairs, or DVA, is here to support you by funding a range of high quality hearing services and devices available to eligible Gold or White Veteran card holders who have accepted conditions of hearing loss or tinnitus. Those eligible, can access a range of services at no cost including the assessment, fitting, training and maintenance of prescribed items.

Before you sign up to hearing aids or treatments, carefully read the details as you should not need to pay for anything.
