If you are a school teacher or student, you can access a wide range of free resources through the Anzac Portal, including education resources, curriculum units and history publications.

DVA also runs and supports several competitions to encourage students to develop an understanding of Australia's wartime history, including the Anzac Day Schools Awards, the National History Challenge and the Simpson Prize Competition.

Funding is available through the Australian Government's Saluting Their Service commemorations program. These grants of up to $10,000 are available to support events and activities which are directly commemorative of Australia's involvement in wars, conflicts and peace operations.

The type of projects funded through this programme include:

  • erecting or upgrading memorials (including installation of a memorial garden, flagpole or plaque) in school grounds
  • erecting or restoring honour rolls that record the names of former students who have served in wars and conflicts
  • publishing books to record the wartime service of former students
