Deputy President of the Repatriation Commission Appointed

Mr Mark Brewer AM CSC and Bar has been appointed as Deputy President of the Repatriation Commission following the retirement of Ms Kate Pope PSM. Mr Brewer has been acting in this position since March 2024.

The Repatriation Commission is an important governance body for veterans’ compensation legislation. Its members are a crucial part of the veteran legislative framework.

Mr Brewer is an experienced military officer and public servant. He served in a number of senior leadership roles in the Australian Defence Force and since joining the Australian Public Service has been a key contributor to the rollout of the Veterans’ and Families’ Hubs across Australia.  

In addition, he has been awarded the Conspicuous Service Cross (CSC), the Bar to Conspicuous Service Cross (Bar) and was appointed as a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for his service during his career in the Australian Defence Force.

Mr Brewer will play a critical role in Australia’s support system for veterans and families. 

Kate Pope PSM is recognised for her efforts, passionately devoting almost a decade to improving the health and wellbeing of veterans in her time at the Department, including in her role as Deputy President over the past four and half years.
