Kahlil Fegan DSC AM reappointed as Repatriation Commissioner
Mr Kahlil Fegan DSC AM has been reappointed as Australia’s Repatriation Commissioner for a further five years from 6 August 2025.
Since his initial appointment in September 2023, Kahlil has tirelessly lent his voice to his fellow veterans, ensuring they are heard on the issues that matter to them.
As Repatriation Commissioner, Kahlil will continue to engage with and advocate for veterans to ensure they receive the highest quality of services and support from the Department of Veterans’ Affairs.
Kahlil understands the defence and veteran experience intimately and draws upon a lifetime of experience as a senior leader within the ADF, including as Commander of the 3rd Combat Brigade in Townsville.
Kahlil’s reappointment will see him serve as a member of the Repatriation Commission until 6 August 2030, and as a member of the Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Commission until 30 June 2026.
Further to Kahlil’s reappointment, Ms Alison Frame has been reappointed as President of the Repatriation Commission from 6 August 2025 to 1 July 2026.
From 1 July 2026, the Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Commission will be merged with the Repatriation Commission, making it the single ongoing commission administering veterans’ compensation and rehabilitation legislation, removing a duplication of responsibilities and providing greater clarity around Governance matters. The Secretary of the Department will continue to hold the position as President of the Repatriation Commission under these arrangements.
