Rise Together – Building career confidence for defence and veteran partners

A message from the Families of Veterans Guild

A career development opportunity for partners of current and former ADF members is now available!

Nationwide, 90% of Defence partners report making career sacrifices to support their partner’s Defence service and 92% of Defence partners affected by underemployment are women.

In March, the Families of Veterans Guild opened applications for The Rise Together Initiative, a program designed to break down career barriers for Defence and veteran partners, including widows.

What began as one widow’s vision to support other women has now grown into a national initiative. In 2025, this private donor will fund 2 more Defence and veteran spouses to complete the program. Alongside Australian Government support, this will allow 12 partners to access career development and leadership training through the Women in Leadership Development Program.

This initiative focuses on building career confidence, strengthening leadership skills, and empowering spouses and partners to recognise their value beyond being a veteran partner.

The Rise Together Initiative is available to partners in New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory, Victoria, Queensland and South Australia. Applications are now open on the Families of Veterans Guild’s website and will close on 7 April 2025.

Do not miss out – give your career a boost today!
