Support for eligible renters

The Australian Government is supporting eligible veterans and families by increasing the maximum rates of Commonwealth Rent Assistance (CRA).

Eligible renters are benefitting from a 10% increase to the maximum rates of CRA. This builds on the 15% increase provided in the 2023–24 Budget. This is the first back-to-back increase to rent assistance in more than 30 years. Regular indexation has also been applied on top of the 10% increase.

This measure commenced on 20 September 2024. The increase was automatically applied to payment rates.
