Explore the legacy of Australian service in Timor-Leste
We recently marked the 25th anniversary of Australian service in Timor-Leste. This important milestone was commemorated in September 2024 with veteran stories shared and events held, including a National Commemorative Service and educational seminar.
The Pathway to Peace and Solidary seminar brought together distinguished speakers to reflect on Australia’s pivotal role in supporting Timor-Leste’s journey to independence and ongoing peacebuilding efforts.
The seminar is now available online in a chaptered format where you can engage with this rich resource at your convenience, whether you’re exploring historical case studies, preparing coursework, or contributing to ongoing research on peace and conflict studies.
Highlights include:
• veteran experience in Timor-Leste and whilst deployed on peace operations
• ongoing connections and relationships established and strengthened with our allies, and
• relationship between ADF and the AFP and how they worked together to achieve a common goal.
We encourage you to watch, share, and integrate these powerful insights.
Lest we forget.
