A time to celebrate and support families
May 13–19 is National Families Week!
We’d like to thank families for their crucial role in supporting veterans during their time of service and throughout their transition to civilian life. We recognise families’ ongoing sacrifices made for the benefit of the Australian people.
This year, National Families’ Week will be celebrated across the country with a number of organisations and community groups hosting events. If you’re a member of a veteran family, we encourage you to connect with other families and your local community by attending events near you.
To find an event, go to the National Families Week website.
We realise that veteran families may face challenges related to service, so we provide support. This includes Open Arms – Veterans & Families Counselling.
To access free, military-aware mental health support for veterans and the immediate family of veterans, you can contact Open Arms 24 hours a day by calling 1800 011 046.
Further information on how DVA provides support for families is available on the Support for families page of the DVA website.
