Today is World Hearing Day
Let’s talk about hearing care.
Veterans of all ages may experience hearing loss or tinnitus. This can affect your quality of life, relationships and in some instances, your overall health and wellbeing.
DVA supports veterans with hearing impairment by providing assistive listening, tinnitus and hearing devices through our Rehabilitation Appliances Program, so you can focus on the things you enjoy.
Veterans can also access the Australian Government’s Hearing Services Program (HSP) to help you manage your hearing loss. Eligible veterans may receive a HSP hearing device from the HSP’s fully subsidised range at no cost to themselves. To check your eligibility, go to the HSP website and use the ‘Check your Eligibility’ button. You can also contact the HSP on 1800 500 726.
If you think you might be experiencing hearing loss or tinnitus, more information is available on the Hearing Services webpage of the DVA website. There you’ll find The Veteran’s Guide to Better Hearing, which has a useful questionnaire.
