Veteran Central in Perth offers one-stop shop
DVA TV has produced a video looking at Veteran Central, which is part of DVA’s Veterans’ and Families’ Hubs network. Veteran Central is located in Anzac House, RSL Western Australia’s headquarters in the heart of Perth’s CBD.
The video provides an insight into the various services offered by Veteran Central.
Minister for Veterans’ Affairs Matt Keogh visited Veteran Central and spoke with CEO of RSLWA, Vince Connelly.
‘We try as much as possible to be a one-stop shop,’ said Mr Connelly. ‘So as well as having camaraderie … there’s also medical services, dental, mental health support, and of course connecting with employment.
‘One of the things that we need to be conscious of is that we’re relevant and inclusive of people with all different service histories.’
Mr Connelly also spoke about the advantages of Veteran Central being co-located with the RSL.
‘It gives us an area where we can undertake a lot of central and coordinated activities [but] we’re conscious of having good outreach into the broader veteran network [across the state]. Having a central node here in Perth has been a great asset for the veteran community.’
