Veteran Wellbeing Centres well underway

The centres will be located in Townsville, Adelaide, Perth, Darwin, Wodonga and Nowra.

Once established, the centres will deliver integrated support to veterans and their families from government, business and community partnerships. They will help connect veterans and their families to a range of core services that will include support for transition, employment, health and social connection.

Each centre is at a different stage of development. In Townsville, The Oasis Centre started main building works in mid-July. In Adelaide, construction work has begun on the Veteran Wellbeing Centre site. The construction of the new Veteran Central facility in Perth’s CBD is near completion.

The other sites – in Darwin, Nowra and Wodonga – are at earlier stages of development, with seed funding provided to the partner organisations to develop concepts, site plans and service models.

DVA is working with the ACT Government to undertake a joint feasibility study into the potential for a national research centre and telehealth or digital health hub located in Canberra.

DVA is also working with the Tasmanian Government to undertake a feasibility study into the potential for a veteran wellbeing service for the state. The study is being conducted by the University of Tasmania. The feasibility study will consider services and support for veterans and their families in consultation with the ex-service community and other stakeholders.
