Veterans’ and Families’ Hubs expanding to Hawkesbury and south-western Sydney

A $5 million grant has been awarded to RSL LifeCare to establish a unique Veterans’ and Families’ Hub network connecting the Hawkesbury region to south-western Sydney.

The Hub network will connect with RSL sub-branches, providing tailored services to communities across the Hawkesbury region.

To maximise support for the veteran community, RSL LifeCare proposes to use the grant to extend the Hub network across south-western Sydney, including Ingleburn.

This is great news for more than 7,700 current and ex-serving personnel and their families in the Hawkesbury region, and over 11,500 in south-western Sydney, with the Hub network providing improved access to programs, services and support closer to home.

This support includes mental and physical health services, wellbeing support, advocacy, employment and housing advice, and opportunities for social connection.

While every veteran community around the country is different, RSL LifeCare will bring their significant experience to tailoring the Hub network in Hawkesbury and south-western Sydney to the local veteran communities’ needs.

RSL LifeCare currently operate the ‘Nowra Veteran Wellbeing Centre’, funded under the Veterans’ and Families’ Hub Program and similar self-funded hubs located in the Riverina (Wagga Wagga), Dee Why and Newcastle.

This year, RSL LifeCare was also awarded grant funding to establish a Veterans’ and Families’ Hub in Queanbeyan serving the Southeast of NSW and the ACT, as part of the Government’s $46.7 million commitment to deliver Hubs across the country.
