Chaplaincy support program to be trialled for veterans
Additional support for personnel transitioning from the ADF and for veterans is on its way. The Veterans Chaplaincy Pilot Program has been launched in Perth with the appointment of the first chaplain under the Program, Chaplain John Crosby.
The pilot program will see chaplaincy support extended to veterans and families as they go through the transition into civilian life and beyond.
Chaplains have long been part of the ADF, giving spiritual and pastoral support to all those who serve. With an understanding of the nature of ADF service and the challenges faced by ADF personnel and families, the pilot program will see chaplains providing a new pillar of support to veterans and their families.
The pilot program will continue until 30 June 2024 and following its start in Perth, will be extended into Southeast Queensland in the coming months, and then to North Queensland in the third quarter of 2023. The pilot will be evaluated with further consideration to be given for next steps before the trial has been completed.
