DVA’s on-base Veteran Support Officers
DVA has recently created the ADF Support Section to enhance our delivery of support services to Australian Defence Force (ADF) members.
Delivering this support are VSOs who convene personalised one-on-one appointments with ADF personnel, engage with ADF support networks and deliver DVA information sessions on some 56 Defence bases across Australia.
Our support model provides three levels of support, as required by individual circumstances, to better support current serving veterans and their families.
A key component of the model is a strong working relationship with all levels of Defence and the broader veteran community.
You should reach out to a VSO if you:
- are medically or administratively separating from the ADF
- have been medically downgraded at any time
- have an ADFRP Rehabilitation Consultant assisting you, or
- have suffered an injury or illness related to your service.
Current serving ADF members can book an appointment with an on-base VSO by emailing vso [at] dva.gov.au (vso[at]dva[dot]gov[dot]au) or ringing 1800 VETERAN (1800 838 372).
