Government provides response to Royal Commission's Final Report
The Government has responded to the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide’s Final Report.
The overwhelming majority of the Royal Commission’s recommendations were accepted.
DVA is committed to making the most of this opportunity to achieve meaningful change and improve the wellbeing of Australia’s veteran community. The death by suicide of any Australian Defence Force member or veteran is a tragedy and DVA is committed to implementing the Government’s response to reduce the risk of suicide in the veteran community. This will be our number-one priority.
We thank you for the support that you provide to veterans and families. However, please be aware that some DVA clients will find this a challenging time. There is likely to be extensive media coverage around the release of the Government’s response, including themes relating to mental health and suicide.
