Providing dental services to Veteran Card holders? Here’s what you need to know.

If you are a dental health care professionals providing services to veterans and families with a Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) Veteran Card, here’s what you should know.

We have a DVA-specific fee schedule

DVA accepts provider claims for services or treatments provided to eligible Veteran Card holders as listed in the latest fee schedules. By accepting a Veteran Card, you agree to accept the DVA fee as full payment. You cannot charge the Veteran Card holder any ‘gap’ fee.

Different Veteran Cards cover different services

DVA will fund a range of dental services and treatment, provided under DVA arrangements, necessary to meet a clinical need for Veteran Gold Card holders. For Veteran White Card holders, dental treatment can only be provided in relation to your patient’s accepted condition/s.

Prior financial approval may be needed

Some dental services require prior financial approval. Providers must contact DVA before administering these services to be able to claim for payment. You can view the list of dental services that require prior approval on the DVA website.

Submit your claim for payment through Services Australia

Claims for payment must be submitted to Services Australia who process your claims on our behalf. For further details on how you can claim, visit our provider claims webpage.
