Veterans are ditching plastic in favour of digital Veteran Cards
The Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) Veteran White Card and Veteran Gold Card holders can now store their Veteran Card in the myGov app.
Digital Veteran Cards, accessible in the MyGov app is simply another way Veteran Card holders can choose to carry and use their Veteran Card to access services.
Digital Veteran Cards have the same information and functionality as physical versions and has retained familiar features such as the card colour, the poppy, and the DVA logo. The Card holder’s personal details appear on a separate screen, when they tap the card in the myGov app.
How can I tell if the card is genuine?
Look out for the following security features to ensure the digital Veteran Card is valid:
- an animated hologram of the word ‘myGov’ that indicates the information shown is not a screen shot
- ‘Last updated’, shows the date and time when a card was last updated. If a person is no longer eligible the card will be removed automatically and the date it was removed from their myGov wallet will be shown.
- a QR code that is regularly refreshed and can be scanned to confirm the digital card is valid. You can do this using the QR code scanner in the myGov app.
Other features
The digital Veteran Card in the myGov app also has a ’Manage your card’ feature, which links to the ‘cards’ screen in the person’s DVA online account, MyService. In MyService, the Veteran Card holder can navigate to the Conditions Listed, where you will be able to check the health conditions that are covered by DVA.
