A homage to HMAS Bataan

95-year-old Gerry built the 1/72 scale model of the Tribal-class destroyer out of brass, copper and aluminium over two years, having calculated the scale of each fitting from original Admiralty plans. 

He built it at Melbourne's RMIT University where he was part of a hobby group.

‘I’m very interested in design in any form,’ he says. ‘I needed a challenge and this was it.’
