Provider claiming

We accept provider claims for services or treatments provided to eligible Veteran Card holders as listed in the latest fee schedules. You can find more information for providers on our Notes for providers page.

Claims for payment must be submitted to Services Australia who process your claims on our behalf.

Please note there is a strict 2-year time limit on all claims. For further details please refer to Late claims.

How you can claim

There are 3 options for submitting your claim to Services Australia:

  • Webclaim: The recommended online option for faster service. Suitable for medical, dental, optical, ophthalmology, and allied health providers, and works well if you have a small number of DVA clients.
  • Software vendor: If you have a larger volume of DVA claims you may prefer to use a software management tool which can link directly to Services Australia to process your claims. Medicare has a list of vendors offering online claiming.
  • Mail: If you cannot use Webclaim you can submit your claim via mail. You can find out how under Mail claims. It's important you send all required documents with your claim otherwise there will be delays in payment.

Hospital or community nursing services

DVA Webclaim cannot be used to claim hospital or community nursing services.

Hospital claims can be made via Services Australia using Eclipse.

Community nursing claims can be made using our Mail claims option.

DVA Webclaim

DVA Webclaim is a free online service that lets you lodge claims and get paid quickly after you treat an eligible Veteran Card holder. Webclaim is hosted by Services Australia.

When you use Webclaim you can:

  • lodge a claim without a client's signature
  • receive an instant response about the success of your claim
  • receive payment within 2 business days
  • access up to 2 years of your electronic DVA payment statements
  • access up to 2 years of your DVA claims history
  • cancel or amend claims on the same day
  • securely message Services Australia with questions about your claim
  • go paperless.

Before you start

To access DVA Webclaim you need:

DVA Webclaim is available from any device with one of these internet browsers:

  • Internet explorer 9
  • Mozilla Firefox 30
  • Google chrome 39
  • Safari 5.

More recent browsers can also access Webclaim.

PRODA account

You will need to create a PRODA account to access DVA Webclaim. For help with PRODA you can call or email the PRODA team

Receiving payment

To receive payment for your claim you need to register or update your bank details with Services Australia.

Steps to claim through Webclaim

Step 1: log on to the Health Professional Online Services (HPOS) portal.

Step 2: choose the PRODA button and start the registration process.

Step 3: link Webclaim and start the claim process.

Mail claims

If you cannot use Webclaim, you can mail your claim to Services Australia using the following steps.

Please note there is a strict 2-year time limit on all claims. For further details please refer to Late claims.

Step 1: find the right claim form or voucher

You can find the claiming form required for your provider cohort at the Provider forms page. You can search by either:

  • provider type
  • words in the form title
  • the form ID number

Step 2: fill it in and print it

We prefer providers to use a computer to fill in the form or voucher.

This way you can save the form or voucher for your records before you print it out.

Step 3: mail your form

Find the correct mailing address under the type of health service you provide:

Late claims

After you consult with or treat an eligible DVA health card holder you have up to 2 years from the date of service to lodge a claim for us to pay.

If you want to make a claim more than 2 years after you consult with or treat an eligible client, you must:

  • show us that if we do not assess your claim, you may suffer financial hardship
  • provide us with documents that prove you may suffer financial hardship.
