Anzac Day Schools’ Awards
Help your school make history! Entries are now open in the 2022 Anzac Day Schools’ Awards.
The Anzac Day Schools' Awards are a national program recognising the work of students, teachers and schools who engage with veterans and commemorate a significant aspect of Australia's military history.
The awards encourage younger generations to gain a deeper understanding of Australia’s wartime past – from the First World War to modern day conflicts.
This year’s theme is Engaging with veterans: Stories of peacekeeping and acknowledges the 75th anniversary of Australian involvement in peacekeeping and peacemaking operations.
To prepare their entry, students can use the Anzac Portal and other websites to research Australian peacekeepers and share their stories and experiences by, for example:
• recording a podcast to share with other year levels
• creating a museum and conducting a gallery walk or virtual tour
• making a video chronicling the life and contributions of an Australian peacekeeper
• building a website to share student investigations.
Past award-winning entries have included a remarkable range of other projects, from artworks, murals and memorials, to poetry, plays and other creative writing.
This year’s theme encourages students to discover personal stories and take part in commemorative activities to honour the service and sacrifice of peacekeepers and peacemakers.
We are looking for entries that show how students engaged with veterans’ stories, and that include evidence of their learning about Australian peacekeepers.
A total of 14 awards are available, with $5,000 going to the national winner, $3,000 to state and territory winners, and $2,000 each for five other special award categories.
So let your creativity loose, help share the message of service and commemoration across generations, and enter your project into the Anzac Day Schools’ Awards!
