80th Anniversary ANZAC Charity Concert - 'Allies of War'
Miscellaneous
The 'Allies of War' performance coincides with 80 years since the end of Australia's involvement in WWII. The concert will include a tribute to the entertainers and radio legends of the ‘Concert Parties’ who performed during WWII and also songs from WWI, in the effort of boosting the troops’ morale. A variety of music will be heard, from WW2 sing-along medleys to the songs of Vera Lyn and Marlene Dietrich, to the Big Band sounds of Glen Miller and the Andrews Sisters. Guest artists include international recording vocalist Maggie Britton along with Coffs Coast Pipes & Drums.
Performed by the Clarence Valley Orchestra & Chorus, conducted by Artistic Director Dr Greg Butcher, the concert is one not to be missed, and is a ‘Salute to all Australians who have served in the Defence Force’. This concert is supported by the Woolgoolga RSL sub-Branch Members.
‘Allies of War’ will be held on Saturday 26th April 2025, commencing at 2:00pm at the Woolgoolga Sports Complex. Tickets are available now online at https://events.humanitix.com/anzac-80th-anniversary-charity-concert

Miscellaneous
I am researching the service of ADGs in Vietnam and would like to hear from any Vietnam Veterans who served in Base Support Flight or 1OSU Vung Tau who have direct knowledge of ADGs being attached to Army Units in 1967 and 1968. I would like to hear from anyone with information or memory about an ADG attached to 4RAR in July 1968. In that attachment, a battle with VC occurred at the Horseshoe, and the ADG was present when a 4RAR soldier was killed. There was a discussion between the Army and RAAF regarding his bravery and actions during that battle.

I am a history student at the University of Rouen in Normandy, France. I'm passionate about the Second World War and especially about the paths of the soldiers who fought for our freedom. This year we celebrated the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings and the Battle of Normandy. 80 years have passed, but the memory is intact, and it is necessary that this lasts. On the occasion of the end of the year, I would like to write a letter to veterans to wish them a happy holiday and above all to show them that the younger generations do not forget them. Please make contact with me if you would like to receive a letter.

I have found an official memorial plaque for British Empire soldiers who died in WWI. It bears the inscription, 'He died for freedom and honour' and the name on the front is James William Thomson. The plaque is 12 cm in diameter and shows Britannia (a female warrior holding a trident and shield) and a lion on the front. The plaque would have been issued to the closest next of kin.
