Senate Inquiry into Afghanistan engagement
A Senate Inquiry into Australia’s engagement in Afghanistan is being conducted. The recent events in Afghanistan and Australia’s subsequent withdrawal continues to be of great concern for many Australians, but especially current and former serving Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel and their families and those who served in Afghanistan.
The Senate Inquiry will look into a number of matters around Australia’s support and engagement in Afghanistan over the last 20 years leading up to, and including, Australia’s withdrawal from Afghanistan. The final report is expected to be delivered when Parliament resumes in early 2022.
To those who served in Afghanistan, please be assured that whatever the reports contain, your contributions to support the people of Afghanistan on behalf of Australia are deeply valued and will never be forgotten. You did an incredibly important job, in the most difficult of circumstances, and you should be proud of your service.
