There is an Australian memorial in Tobruk commemorating the servicemen who fought and died during the siege of Tobruk in WW2, between 11 April and 10 December 1941. During this time the Australians constructed a memorial, but this has since been replaced by the present memorial which is of a similar design.

The memorial is within the Tobruk War Cemetery. The total number of Australian burials there is 559 (540 army, 19 air force). Completely walled, the cemetery incorporates the Allied burial ground used during the siege and the Australian memorial.

The Tobruk War Cemetery is maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission
