Navigating DVA’s aged-care services

DVA understands that as you get older, you might need a little more help with some activities of daily living.

We also understand that navigating the aged-care system can be challenging for you and your family. To help, DVA has published two new books:

Aged care books

The veteran’s guide to living independently — Accessing DVA services

Details the services available to help support you at home, and their eligibility requirements. Whether it’s giving you a hand with household tasks, like changing the bed or doing the washing or vacuuming. You might need help caring for a wound or assistance with personal care (such as showering), or providing equipment to help you stay safe.

DVA has services and programs that can help. Most services are provided quickly, usually within two weeks of an over-the-phone assessment at little to no cost.

The veteran’s guide to moving into an aged-care home — Accessing DVA services

Moving into an aged-care home can be stressful. This book will guide you through this process and provide you with details of the DVA services available once you have moved in.
