Active Choices: a new physical activity program
If you are based in Brisbane, you may be eligible to participate in a new 12-week physical activity program.
DVA wants to help veterans and war widow/ers to age well, and one of the best ways is to stay active. We know it can be hard, so we have engaged the University of Queensland (UQ) to develop and trial a new program called Active Choices that aims to help DVA clients become more physically active and socially connected within their local community.
The UQ team is currently offering Active Choices to DVA clients who are interested in getting help to manage their physical activity. The program may also benefit DVA clients seeking to reconnect with their local communities following the easing of COVID-19 restrictions. Given the continuing impact of COVID-19, the UQ team have put in place additional safety measures to mitigate any risks and ensure the research environment is safe for you.
To be eligible to participate, you must be a DVA Gold or White Card holder receiving treatment from an exercise physiologist or physiotherapist, and assessed as being able to safely participate in physical activity without supervision. Please note, participating in this trial will not change your treatment arrangements. Participation will be in addition to any clinically necessary treatment you are receiving.
