Pathways to employment with us

We have exciting career opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The Department of Veterans’ Affairs operates in various locations and offers flexible workplace arrangements, enabling opportunities to balance the work you do and how you can do it.

Indigenous Skills Talent Acquisition Register (iSTAR)

DVA is seeking to engage Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander persons for ongoing and non-ongoing employment with the Department. Non-ongoing opportunities are roles offered for a specified term.

Registering for the Indigenous Skills Talent Acquisition Register (iSTAR) makes it easier for you explore and gain opportunities to work with us at DVA.

We will support you by:

  • Contacting you when new vacancies match your preferred location, employment level and job family.
  • Periodically sending you helpful resources such as:
    • Applying for jobs in the APS.
    • Self-assessing your capabilities against employment level profiles.
    • Understanding the job families available in the Department.
