If you are receiving a means-tested pension or payment, you must provide information about any changes that could affect either your eligibility for the pension or the amount of pension payable.

Obligation to notify DVA

If you receive a mean-tested pension or payment, you have a legal obligation to keep us informed of changes that may affect the amount of pension you receive.

The means-tested pensions and payments are:

  • Service Pension
  • Social Security Age Pension
  • Income Support Supplement
  • Veteran Payment.

The obligations require recipients of means-tested pensions and payments to advise DVA within 14 days (28 days if you live overseas or receive remove area allowance) of an event or change in your circumstances.

You must contact DVA to advise of any change in circumstances which may be relevant to DVA payments you are receiving. If you do not inform DVA about a change in circumstance within the legal time periods, you will be required to pay any overpayment back.
